He has received countless awards and accolades throughout his 50-year career; he is an Emmy Award winner, three-time Grammy nominee, and inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, with a “Who’s Who” band. Branch has been mentored by iconic figures such as James Cotton, Junior Wells, Willie Dixon, and Big Walter Horton. In addition to recording 15 albums with the Sons of Blues, Branch has also contributed to over 300 albums, including albums by such notables as Koko Taylor, Willie Dixon, Eric Bibb, Johnny Winter, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Son Seals, and Big Head Todd, to name just a few.
Billy’s comprehensive and largely autobiographical new album, aptly titled ‘The Blues Is My Biography,’ was produced by Larry Batiste and features special guests Shemekia Copeland, Bobby Rush, and Billy’s band, Sons of Blues.
Billy said of the record: “Every song on this album has a special meaning for me in terms of my journey,” Billy says. “This is the most important work I’ve ever done, and it’s also the best work I’ve ever done.”
