Produced and engineered by Peake at his Biglittle Recording Studio, ANDY PEAKE (vocals/drums/percussion) is joined on the album by several of his world-class musician friends — including Will McFarlane (Bonnie Raitt, Swampers), James Pennebaker, Chris Leuzinger (Garth Brooks), Andy Reiss, Sam Broussard and John Prestia on guitars; Paul Ossola (SNL Staff Band) and Bob Marinelli (Beth Hart) on bass; Al Hill (Bettye LaVette, Carlene Carter) and Kevin McKendree (Delbert McClinton) on keyboards; Scott Ducaj – trumpet and Miqui Gutierrez – tenor sax, Jeff Taylor (Elvis Costello) – accordion and special guest vocalist John Cowan.
The album is testament to the respect and friendship between Peake and his talented, accomplished friends.
ANDY PEAKE’s MOOD SWINGS is an eclectic collection with a strong thread of blues and American roots music forms. The album includes 11 tracks — 7 are written or co-written by Peake. 2 are originals by veteran songwriter friends. There’s also creative re-imaginings of Chuck Berry’s classic “Johnny B. Goode” (with a zydeco/second line feel) and Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released’. Peake draws from the Music From Big Pink version of the tune as recorded by The Band in their early days. Featuring special guest vocalist John Cowan, the result is a spiritual interpretation of the Bob Dylan classic.
