Paul Weller will release ‘In The Shadow Of The Sun, Paul Weller & Band Live & Very Direct’ digitally on October 2, 2026. The 31-track live album was recorded during his run of outdoor UK shows in the summer of 2026.
Rather than concentrating on one particular period, the album reaches across Weller’s career. Songs from his years with The Jam and The Style Council sit alongside material from his extensive solo catalogue, creating a set that connects several distinct chapters of his musical journey. The collection also includes a version of Curtis Mayfield’s Move On Up.
Among the songs revisited are The Jam favourites Strange Town, That’s Entertainment, The Eton Rifles and Town Called Malice, alongside The Style Council’s My Ever Changing Moods, Shout To The Top and Long Hot Summer.
Weller’s solo years are represented by tracks including Broken Stones, Stanley Road, You Do Something To Me, Wild Wood and The Changingman.
The recordings are intended to retain the direct character of the concerts rather than present a heavily polished recreation of them.
Weller describes the shows as particularly special and says the album was taken straight from the soundboard: “All real, all true, more power, more love.”
With 31 songs covering more than four decades of music, ‘In The Shadow Of The Sun’ offers a broad live overview of Weller’s work, from The Jam and The Style Council through to his long-running solo career.
