John Kennedy’s ‘The Berlin Trilogy (And Other Collaborations)’ follows a period of major change for the Australian singer-songwriter. After suffering a stroke in 2025, Kennedy relocated to Berlin, where former bandmate Moe Jaksch encouraged him to move beyond his familiar pop-rock territory.
Their sessions at Rocking Chair Studio resulted in three songs Kennedy called The Berlin Trilogy, a reference to David Bowie’s Berlin period. After Kennedy moved to Spain, the project expanded to include collaborations with Peter Loveday, Paco Peñaranda, Frank Kearns, Paul Scott, Hybride Goldking, Peter O’Doherty and Hunting At Dawn.
The album continues Kennedy’s Urban and Western approach while introducing a broader collaborative character. The 12-track collection includes songs recorded with different combinations of the participating musicians.
‘The Berlin Trilogy (And Other Collaborations)’ will be released on September 25, 2026, via I-94 Bar Records. Kennedy is also scheduled to return to Australia for East Coast shows from November, alongside promotion for his memoir ‘Have Songs, Will Travel’.
