Famous Strangers is a Canadian band whose sound is a mix of grunge, punk, blues, and classic metal; however, they also add some modern heaviness to that, making their sound rather “unique.”
‘Famous Strangers’ is their debut album, containing seven tracks, of which six feature aggressive, raw, over the top vocals by lead singer Amanda Kiernan. The opening track Fire Inside sets the tone for this album, being a more than excellent hard rocking track. Ghosts Of Men offers a couple of cool riffs, screaming vocals and neck breaking hooks, while Please Her is a pure, simple hard rock song. Desires almost sounds like a speed metal track, while Far Away From Home is an aggressive, angry punk song, which should be enjoyed at maximum volume indeed!
This excellent debut album ends with the longest song of the album, namely Rain, which clocks in at just over nine minutes. Rain is a completely different song, as it is an epic ballad-like track; melancholic with bluesy passages and a couple of impressive guitar solos; in other words: a terrific way to end this album!
Famous Strangers’ debut album is a must for fans of Halestorm, WASP, Dio, and Maiden; check it out and play it LOUD.
