Yes, a new album by The Black Keys; ‘Peaches!’ is their 14th studio album; but, however, sad but true, this “new” album only consists of covers… ‘Peaches!’ contains ten covers and they are Black Keys reinterpretations drawn from the blues-based musicians who first fired the imagination of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney.

‘Peaches!’ is, even though, it only consists of covers, the most natural Black Keys-record since their debut ‘The Big Come Up’ (2002), as the duo goes back to the basics and they sound revitalised and urgent indeed.

The two Junior Kimbrough covers – Nobody But You Baby and Tomorrow Night – are, at least for me, the standout tracks of this album. Especially Nobody But You, the longest song, is a blues gem indeed with Auerbach and Carney on fire for sure!

She Does It Right, a Dr. Feelgood cover, is a 100% boogie track filled with swagger, while Tell Me You Love Me is really funky. In fact, there are no weak moments on ‘Peaches!’ as The Black Keys play the blues at its peak indeed, but the fact that all ten songs are covers still bothers me, just a tiny bit though…

So, turn up the volume and enjoy other great songs like Fireman Ring The Bell, Who’s Been Foolin’ You or Stop Arguing Over Me.

A must have for blues rock fans??
