Atlanta based artist, Spencer Thomas, returns with ‘Cynical Vision,’ his third and most incisive album yet, available March 20th 2026 via Strolling Bones Records.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of the spiritual and the digital,” says Spencer Thomas. “We live in a world of instant gratification, with all the answers at our fingertips, but it’s harder than ever to find any kind of deeper purpose or meaning.” That paradox lies at the heart of Cynical Vision, Thomas’s third and most incisive album yet.

Recorded in Athens, GA, with producer Nate Nelson, the collection is wry and sardonic, balancing playful humor and existential dread in equal measure as it searches for moments of transcendence amidst the endless scroll of modern life.

The songs here are timeless, connecting the peculiar fixations and anxieties of the present day to the eternal motivations that have driven man since the dawn of civilization: desire, jealousy, guilt, connection. The music, meanwhile, offers a similar fusion of eras and genres, mixing retro synthesizers, vintage drum machines, and fuzzed out electric guitars into an intoxicating blend of analog and electronic sounds.

The result is an album that tips its cap to everyone from Randy Newman and Lou Reed to Warren Zevon and Tom Petty as it holds a mirror up to the civilization we’ve created for ourselves, a whip-smart meditation on the sobering absurdity and tragic beauty of living and loving in the 21st century.
